AGV electric forklifts can transform into different roles in different scenarios. In library management, forklifts can be transformed into intelligent service robots. Taking a library in China as an example:

The New Friendly Library in the Ecological City of Binhai New Area, Tianjin, although it is a weekday, still attracts a continuous stream of readers. The daily passenger flow reaches over 3000 people, with at least 10000 people on weekends and holidays. The highest passenger flow is during the summer, and in the summer of 2023, the China Singapore Friendship Library will receive 300000 readers and borrow 110000 books. “Director Qi Lina introduced to us.

With so many readers, the service staff in the library are mainly robots. In addition to 25 staff members, the library’s more than 40 robot “librarians” are the “main force” providing services to readers.

The intelligent sorting and returning system, consisting of 15 sorting robots and 2 transport robots, is the most powerful robot combination in the museum. Readers can return books through the intelligent sorting and returning system in the Reading and Enjoyment Hall on the second floor of the library. After successful return, the sorting robot selects the optimal path for book delivery based on the intelligent control and scheduling system in the background, and can complete functions such as mutual avoidance and automatic obstacle avoidance. Finally, the books are delivered to different categories of sorting gates according to their classification and collection location. After the book box under the sorting port is filled, the transport robot will immediately move the book box to the conversion area, and hand over the books to the intelligent handling robot for the next step of processing through the conversion device.

The intelligent sorting and returning system mainly includes 15 AGV sorting robots, 2 transport robots, book box conversion devices, and a control scheduling system, and is equipped with 18 sorting ports and 3 returning operation ports. The system can sort 1500 books per hour, which is ten times more than traditional manual sorting, greatly improving the efficiency of book sorting, “said Qilina.

The three intelligent handling robots that will be launched in 2023 are new members of the “robot family” of the China Singapore Friendship Library, capable of transporting 25000 books per day. These hardworking and intelligent “porters” use a book box conversion device to transfer sorted books to customized book boxes, achieving seamless integration with the sorting and returning system, and automatically completing point-to-point book handling according to business needs. At the same time, it can automatically “call” dedicated elevators through wireless networks to transport books to various floors according to business needs, achieving autonomous book transfer across floors and regions. In addition to working independently, the moving robot is also a thoughtful “good helper” for librarians. With the help of visual recognition technology, it can automatically identify librarians and flexibly follow them to any position to complete tasks such as book shelving, delisting, and cross regional transportation.
